If Jesus said,

I will never leave you
then why do we act
as if this weren’t true?

If Jesus said,
Your cares I’ll bear
then why do we think
for us, He’s not there?

If Jesus said,
I’ll forsake you not
then why isn’t this
a captive thought?

If Jesus said,
go and sin no more
then why do we still
open temptation’s door?

If Jesus said,
sufficient is My grace
then why more of it
don’t we embrace?

If Jesus said,
faith is all I require
then why don’t we
our own efforts expire?

If Jesus said,
all of these things . . .
then why onto His words
don’t we daily cling!
